To reduce the amount of spam email, the industry has embarked on strategies to tighten up the exchange of emails between email Providers like Gmail, Bell, Rogers, Cogeco, Eastlink and Wightman and to enforce stronger passwords. This has not been a well coordinated activity as different providers are launching their solutions individually and forcing other Providers to reconfigure their email solution's to comply with this increased security. Wightman has seen the impact of this and you, our Customers are experiencing the impact with delayed email responses such as the following:
We are now setting a final date of March 2, 2020 where we will activate mandatory authentication. If you have a device used for Wightman email that was not updated with authentication, Wightman emails you send from that device will no longer be sent.
