Follow these steps to set up your Wightman email account on your iPhone, iPad, iPod, or other iOS device:
- Go to Settings > Mail > Accounts > Add Account.
- Tap Other to add your Wightman account.
- Enter the following information:
- Name: The display name that Mail will show to your mail recipients
- Email: Your Wightman email address
- Password: The password you created when you signed up for Wightman email service
- Description: A description of your choice. This is how you will identify this email account on your iOS device
- Tap Next. Mail will try to find the email settings and finish your account setup. If Mail finds your email settings, tap Done to complete your account setup. If Mail can’t find your email settings, you need to enter them manually.
- Choose IMAP or POP for your new account. What’s the difference?
- A POP account is like a funnel from Wightman’s email server to you. When Mail checks your
email, your messages are “funneled” to your computer or mobile device. Any changes made
to email on your device (like deleting a message) will not be reflected on the server. - An IMAP account is like a bridge from Wightman’s email server to you. When Mail checks
your email, messages “cross” back and forth between the server and your computer or
mobile device. Any changes made to email on your device (like deleting a message) will be
reflected on the server. *This is the best option for syncing email between multiple devices.*
- Enter the information for Incoming Mail Server and Outgoing Mail Server.
- Incoming Mail Server: mail.wightman.ca
- User Name: The portion of your email address that appears before the “@” symbol
- Password: The password you created when you signed up for Wightman email service.
- Then tap Next. If you don’t have this information, try to look it up or contact your email provider.
- Outgoing Mail Server: Use the same information as the incoming mail server
- Tap Save to finish. If the email settings are incorrect, you’ll be asked to edit them.
